Original constituency question from Juliana Addison MP to Parliament –

My question is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety and is about four very important intersection upgrades across Ballarat.

Will the minister please provide an update on the progress of the works on Dyson Drive–Ballarat-Carngham Road roundabout in Alfredton and the replacement of the roundabout with traffic lights at the very busy Wiltshire Lane–Glenelg Highway intersection in Delacombe?

I would also like the minister to provide me with an update on the Hertford Street–Albert Street as well as the Docwra Street–Midland Highway traffic light and pedestrian upgrades in Sebastopol.

These four significant upgrades are part of the Keeping Ballarat Moving project, through which the Victorian government is investing more than $60 million to upgrade traffic hotspots. These congestion-busting projects will significantly improve the traffic flow at key intersections that connect Ballarat’s growing suburbs as well as enhance road safety for users and pedestrians.

I look forward to hearing from the minister about these key road projects.

Response from the Hon Ben Carroll MP, Minister for Public Transport & Minister for Roads and Road Safety (6th April 2022) –

I thank the Member for Wendouree for her question and her outstanding advocacy for improved roads in her community.

I am pleased to advise that all the Congestion Busting Intersection Projects in the Keeping Ballarat Moving Program are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

The roundabout design for the Dyson Drive and Ballarat-Carngham Road intersection is in its final stage. Works are scheduled to commence in June 2022 and be completed later this year.

Construction works on the intersection of Wiltshire Lane and Glenelg Highway are well underway. New road pavement and drainage are being constructed. The works are scheduled to be complete by later this year.

At the intersection of Hertford Street and Albert Street, pavement works in Herford Street are almost complete, with works now commencing on the south-bound carriageway. Drainage, service relocations and pavement are scheduled for April on the south bound carriageway. Drainage and pavement works on the north-bound carriageway remain ongoing.  Works are scheduled to be completed in the second half of this year.

Works are progressing on the south-bound side of the Docwra Street and Midland Highway intersection. Asphalt pavement works began on 31 March. Drainage, kerb and pavement works are scheduled for the Midland Highway as well as works on Docwra street during April.  Works are scheduled to be completed before the end of the year.
