Sebastopol South Kinder gets a glow up!

The Victorian Government has invested $500,000 for a significant transformation at the Sebastopol South Kindergarten in Spencer Street as a part of $2.7 billion kinder building program.

The improvements have been funded through the Allan Labor Government’s Building Blocks Early Childhood Refurbishment and Minor Works program in conjunction with the City of Ballarat.

The Sebastopol South Kindergarten, which is operated by the Eureka Community Kindergarten Association Inc (ECKA), has been an important part of the community for the last 30 years, educating generations of children.

The timely upgrades to this much loved kinder include improved outdoor and indoor amenities that will enhance the kinder’ s opportunity to provide quality teaching and learning.

The “glow up” includes a facade treatment improving the visual appeal, a new outdoor covered space, landscaping, new basins in the kinder rooms for big people and little people, internal storage and an upgrade of the heating and cooling system, making it fit for purpose.

The upgrades will benefit the 44 children who attend the three-year-old and four-year-old kinder at Sebastopol South and the wonderful early educators.

The Victorian Government is reforming early learning – making it bigger, better and fairer. As a result of new partnerships and our record investment, all Victorian children can now get two years of free kinder.

Through our nation-leading $14 billion Best Start, Best Life reforms, we are transforming early childhood education to help children thrive, save families money and support parents – especially women – to return to work or study.

Victorian 3-year-olds are now benefitting from at least five hours of free kinder a week. We will increase that to 15 hours by 2029.

Also, from 2025 to 2036, Four-Year-Old Kindergarten will transition to ‘Pre-Prep’ – doubling play-based learning for every 4-year-old child in Victoria to 30 hours a week.
