Ballarat Gold Mine – Motion
I too am very saddened to rise to express and share my condolences to the family of Kurt Hourigan, who was fatally killed – he did not die at work, he was killed – at work.

My constituency question is for the Minister for Police. How is the Allan Labor government’s record investment in Victorian police and community safety supporting my electorate of Wendouree?
The Allan Labor Government has kick-started production of Victoria’s new X’Trapolis 2.0 in Ballarat, supporting up to 150 direct jobs, and up to 750 local jobs across the supply chain.
I am very pleased today to speak and contribute on and support the Private Security and County Court Amendment Bill 2024.
I wish to raise an adjournment matter for the Minister for Public and Active Transport regarding the manufacture of X’trapolis 2.0 trains at the Alstom rail workshop in Ballarat.
Happy 20th birthday to the Wendouree West Exodus Community. What a wonderful celebration of community, respect, inclusion and friendship.
It has been a huge two weeks for communities to the west of Ballarat who have been impacted by fires. I am so grateful to the hundreds of people who have worked around the clock fighting fires, supporting the firefighters and caring for those evacuated from their homes, in relief centres.
My constituency question is for the Minister for Housing in the other place regarding our government’s Big Housing Build in my electorate of Wendouree.
I am so pleased to contribute to the Education and Training Reform Amendment (Early Childhood Employment Powers) Bill 2024, which sets up the legislative basis for the 50 government owned and operated early learning centres that we will be delivering across the next four years.
Happy 100th birthday to Ruby Fagan. I met Ruby for the first time at Bupa Aged Care in Delacombe on her birthday on Valentine’s Day and was immediately impressed by her. She was in excellent health and enjoying all the festivities to mark her centenary.
Wendouree families will get the world-class local school their kids deserve, as the Allan Labor Government continues to invest in the transformation of Mount Rowan Secondary College. Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison visited Mount Rowan Secondary College today to announce the latest upgrades to the school, a total investment since 2015 of $21 million.
Children and families in Ballarat’s fast-growing western suburbs now have access to a great new kindergarten and community hub, thanks to the Allan Labor Government. Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn joined Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison yesterday to officially open the Alfredton Community Hub (interim name) with the help of some of Ballarat’s littlest learners.
I thank the Member for Wendouree for her ongoing support and advocacy for a world-class public transport system for Victorians, and look forward to further opportunities to celebrate the success of the X’Trapolis 2.0 Project and manufacturing in Ballarat.
My constituency question is directed to the Minister for Mental Health and is regarding the implementation of the recommendations from the 2021 landmark Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System and how that is benefiting my constituents in Wendouree.
I am delighted to rise, following on from the member for Sandringham, to talk about the Service Victoria Amendment Bill 2023. I am standing up to support this amendment, which will further improve the delivery of digital government services across the state.
Following the tabling of the final report of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, how will Ballarat community members who experience mental illness access better treatment, care and support as a result of the recommendations handed down in the final report from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System?
I rise today to provide further comments on the report from the Environment and Planning Committee’s inquiry into employers and contractors who refuse to pay their subcontractors for completed works. This really is at the heart of fairness and what our country is about – that a fair day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.
Ballarat is one of the greatest places to live and visit, and there are so many reasons why, including hosting the AusCycling 2024 Federation University Road National Championships.
