The Bridge Mall in Ballarat is an important part of my family’s history, with two generations of traders running small businesses at opposite ends of Bridge Street. I was so pleased to join in the reopening celebrations on Saturday.
It was great to be back at my old school, Ballarat Clarendon College, on the weekend for the annual researchED conference.
It is with this great love of education and strong understanding of education that it is an absolute privilege tonight to be able to get up to support the motion that this house recognises the Allan Labor government’s commitment to working families by expanding free breakfast clubs, saving parents $400 through the school saving bonus and extending the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund, ensuring that every student has access to essential programs no matter what their circumstances.
I am pleased to stand today in support of the Gambling Legislation Amendment (Pre-commitment and Carded Play) Bill 2024, which introduces further reforms to minimise gambling harm in our community and across Victoria.
I thank the member for Wendouree for inviting me to visit local representatives of the rainbow community in her electorate.
My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Equality, and I am delighted that she is in the chamber today for me to raise this adjournment matter. The action that I seek is for her to visit my electorate of Wendouree to meet with representatives of our vibrant LGBTIQA+ community at a stakeholder round table.
My question is for the Minister for Housing. How is the Allan Labor government supporting more affordable housing projects for my constituents in Ballarat?
I rise to talk about the bill, to actually talk about nurses and to talk about patient care, quality care and looking after all Victorians from the womb to the tomb.
I thank the member for her advocacy on the health of the Wendouree community and support of this vital hospital upgrade.
Loreto College has celebrated their 150th anniversary, recognising the arrival of Mother Gonzaga Barry and the nine sisters in Ballarat in 1875.
As chair of the Legislative Assembly Environment and Planning Committee, I am again pleased to rise to speak on the Securing the Victorian Food Supply inquiry report that was tabled in this place in the last sitting week of 2024.
My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Education, and the action I seek is for the minister to visit my electorate of Wendouree to officially open the new classrooms and facilities at Mount Rowan Secondary College.
I want to thank the Member for her tireless advocacy for the health of her local community. I know the member is keenly interested in making sure that her constituents across the Ballarat region have access to the healthcare they need.
Today I pay tribute to Doug Sarah OAM, Bill McGregor OAM and Ewan Jones OAM, who all recently passed away. These men made significant contributions to Ballarat over many decades in different fields, but all three were driving forces behind the success of Sovereign Hill.
My question is for the Minister for Health Infrastructure and is regarding the Allan Labor government’s $655 million investment to expand and redevelop the Ballarat Base Hospital.
I am very proud today to speak on the bill that seeks to increase and strengthen protection for Victorian renters.
I thank the Member for Wendouree for her question and for her commitment to her local Ballarat community.
