A Pleasant Upgrade for the Home of the Ballarat Soccer Club
Football has been given a boost in Ballarat with the announcement of State Government funding to the City of Ballarat to upgrade facilities at Pleasant Street Reserve.
Detailed design works are underway for the redevelopment of two senior pitches and training area, coaches’ boxes at the Pleasant Street Reserve.
This project includes $500,000 of funding from the State Government’s World Game Facilities Fund and $725,618 of City of Ballarat funding to improve the Ballarat Soccer Club’s home ground.
The Ballarat Soccer Club has seen growing interest in recent years, and this project will allow the club to reach its full potential and continue to grow for years to come.
The work will include resurfacing two pitches and the club’s training area, upgrades to drainage and irrigation, installation of new fencing, new grass turf and upgrades to the coaches’ boxes.
These upgrades will ensure more access to safer surfaces for the Ballarat Soccer Club and the community around the reserve.
Works will commence at the conclusion of the 2022 soccer season with most of the project works taking place over summer so the ground is ready for the 2023 soccer season.

“This investment of $500,000 follows on from previous funding of $250,000 to install lights at the Pleasant St Reserve. This is a great example of State and Local Governments working together to provide the community sporting facilities that local clubs like Ballarat Soccer Club deserve and can be proud of.”

“I especially want to note that Ballarat Soccer Club President, Lucy Brennan, is a City of Ballarat Active Women and Girls Ambassador. It’s through strong community leadership like Lucy’s that we as a local government know where we need to focus our attention and funding to ensure women and girls in Ballarat have every opportunity to get out there and get involved.”
