Accessibility upgrades will make a real difference for people with disabilities at the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre
Member for Wendouree, Juliana Addison today announced that the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre (BALC) will share in more than $20 million to make its facilities more accessible for the community from the Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
The Victorian Government’s contribution of $748,124 in funding for this joint project with the City of Ballarat will provide two Changing Places facilities and three other accessible and sensory friendly change rooms along with an upgrade to the automatic sliding doors, providing better accessibility for change rooms, group fitness studios, health club and the café. The total cost of the project is $997,499.
This investment at the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre will provide high-quality and accessible facilities that will ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can benefit from swimming, hydrotherapy, and active recreation.
We are pleased to be working in partnership with the City of Balllarat on a project that is inclusive and removes barriers to access the pool and facilities at the BALC, including Ballarat Specialist School students.
Further this project will support local jobs, stimulate our economy, and improve the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for our community and the region.
