Road Nationals Cycling To Return To Ballarat In 2024
Thousands of cycling fans are set to line the streets of Ballarat when the AusCycling Road National Championships return in 2024, thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government and the City of Ballarat.
Acting Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Ben Carroll today confirmed the prestigious tournament will return from 4 to 7 January next year.
The event will see some of Australia’s best elite and junior cyclists and para cyclists battle it out for the coveted green and gold national jerseys on the roads of Ballarat and Buninyong in Victoria’s beautiful Grampians Central Highlands region.
The 2023 Road Nationals was hailed the most successful instalment of the event in years, with more than 10,000 spectators attending.
The event is also showcased through a live domestic and international broadcast.
Next year’s event will see cycling enthusiasts from all over head to Ballarat, which will not only contribute to the atmosphere of the event but will in turn provide a boost to the region’s tourism, food and wine and retail businesses – with plenty on offer in the area for spectators to enjoy during their stay.
The Labor Government is proud to support major events in Ballarat, including supporting the Western Bulldogs to play games at Mars Stadium and the Ballarat International Foto Biennale which will return later this year.
Since 2016, the Regional Events Fund has supported hundreds of events across regional Victoria, attracting visitors, creating jobs and growing local visitor economies.
