Building the facilities our veterans deserve

Labor Member for Wendouree, Juliana Addison, is inviting local organisations that support veterans to apply now for grants of up to $200,000 to spruce up their buildings and facilities.

The Veterans Capital Works Grant Program helps eligible organisations fund facility improvements so they can provide better support and services to their members.

Any organisation in Ballarat that supports veterans and their families are welcome to apply, such as ex-service organisations, local government and not-for-profit groups.

The funding could be used for renovation projects that provide all abilities access, improve community access or upgrade memorial halls.

Ms Addison said the grants are a great way for organisations to boost their facilities and improve the services they provide to veterans.

“Ballarat has many veterans who have served us proudly and I want them to have the support they deserve,” she said.

“Some buildings used by veteran organisations could do with an upgrade to make them more accessible, more sustainable or better fit for purpose and this funding might be a way of helping deliver better facilities,” Ms Addison said.

Interested organisations can apply for up to $50,000 through the Veterans Minor Capital Works Grant Program or up to $200,000 through the Veterans Major Capital Works Grant Program.

The grant funding is a new initiative which was announced by the Labor Government in the 2018/19 Victorian Budget. The first round of funding was run last year, with an allocation of $1 million awarded to 20 organisations.

Grant applications close on Thursday 4 July 2019. Visit veterans.vic.gov.au/grants for further information or to apply.
